Project Summary
Test Pilot is a nouveau tiki craft cocktail bar located in Santa Barbara, CA. The tropically inspired neighborhood bar attracts college students and young professionals.
When the owners compiled a list of their 60+ rare and imported rums for a specialty menu, they knew a standard 2-sided laminated page wasn’t good enough. They wanted something special—something with a wow-factor. Enter Ascend Creations.
Specialty menu printed on vellum, then mounted onto reclaimed oak blocks that mimic old planks from rum-runner ships.
We pulled inspiration from the interior decor of the nouveau tiki craft cocktail bar. Pages were designed to convey the bar’s playfulness and exotic charm.
Menu item pages were interspersed with pages featuring quirky stories or quotes paired with nautical-themed illustrations.
This menu design is beautiful, but the idea to present it to patrons mounted on reclaimed wood made it great.
