Frontier Communications is one of the U.S.’ largest telecom providers. When exploring the personalities of the I.T. professionals, CIOs, and business owners that make up their customer base, we found they have one thing in common: They value I.T. knowledge.

In order to get across the message that Frontier really understood the quirks and values of their audience; we created an all-knowing character known simply as “The Sage”. He came to life during #GeekWeek, through a series of social media teaser spots and an email nurture. A personalized video inviting the audience to take the I.T.-Pro-Inner-Geek Quiz was at the center of it all. This quiz offered Frontier’s sales team fantastic insights into their audience.

Q: What was Ascend’s role in producing this video?
A: My roles included concept development and script consultation, art direction of character and wardrobe, SFX consultation and set design consultation, and graphics design of all on-screen graphics.

This video and the accompanying campaign were a huge success for the client. The reason is that their audience adored “The Sage” with all his geeky quirks—from his howling wolf tee, socks with sandals, and his juice pouch slurps.
